Four Women Accuse Rep. Eric Swalwell of Sexual Misconduct; Congressman Denies Allegations

Four women have accused U.S. Congressman Eric Swalwell of sexual misconduct, including a former staffer who alleges that he raped her in 2024 while she was heavily intoxicated. Swalwell has strongly denied all allegations, calling them false and politically motivated.

According to reports, the former staffer claimed that the incident happened after she had stopped working in Swalwell’s office. She said she repeatedly told him to stop while pushing him away, but he did not stop. She also alleged that a similar nonconsensual incident occurred in 2019 when she woke up naked in a hotel room after a night of heavy drinking and had no memory of what happened.

Three other women also accused the congressman of inappropriate behavior, including sending unsolicited sexual messages and nude photos. One woman said she met Swalwell through online political discussions and later ended up intoxicated in his hotel room after drinks. Another woman, social media creator Ally Sammarco, alleged that Swalwell sent her inappropriate messages and photos after connecting with her on Twitter.

Swalwell denied all accusations in a statement, saying the claims were false and appeared just before a major election in California. He stated that he has always protected women throughout his 20 years of public service and would defend himself with facts and legal action if necessary.

His attorney also sent cease-and-desist letters to two of the women, warning them to retract their statements and stop making allegations. The legal team stated that Swalwell has never engaged in nonconsensual sexual activity and has never had sexual relations with any staff member.

The report says that CNN reviewed messages, medical records, and witness statements that support parts of the women’s claims, including text messages and conversations with friends and family. However, some former staff members defended Swalwell, saying they never experienced any inappropriate behavior and described him as supportive and professional.

The allegations come at a sensitive time, as Swalwell is a leading Democratic candidate in California’s governor race. The women said they came forward because they wanted justice and believed others may have had similar experiences.

Swalwell continues to deny all allegations and says his focus remains on his family and defending his reputation.
